Trail Building Workday at the Big Cain Creek Preserve, Town of Texas, Marathon County:
- Thursday, June 11, 9am-3pm - footbridge & kiosk construction
Help NCCT with the next phase of the trail building project at the Big Cain Creek Preserve! These workdays will focus on building the tread of the trail by clearing vegetation and brush with hand tools, and constructing footbridges and a sign kiosk. NCCT will provide tools and personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and eye protection as needed. No prior experience necessary, though light construction experience would be helpful! All are welcome.
Please note that these workdays will be weather dependent, so we ask for your RSVP so we can easily communicate day-of changes to the plan.
This property has some technical, rocky footing/terrain, and steep slopes. The only bathroom available on site is nature’s bathroom. Please plan accordingly.
MEET/PARK: Meet at the Big Cain Creek Preserve on Cattle Road north of Wausau. Click here for Google Maps. Road is narrow, please park on east shoulder.
DIRECTIONS: From Hwy 39/51N, take exit 197 and go east on Cty Rd WW for 10 miles. Then go east on River Hills Rd for 2 miles, then north on N73rd St/River Hills Rd for 2 miles. Slight left onto Cattle Rd. Click here for Google Maps.

- Weather appropriate clothing, rain gear, and footwear for secure footing
- Water and beverages
- Lunch and snacks (lunch will not be provided)
- Sunscreen and insect repellant
- PPE such as leather work gloves and safety glasses

Join NCCT as we celebrate another year of successful conservation in Central Wisconsin at our Annual Harvest Dinner Fundraiser & Friend-raiser! Thursday, September 24th from 4:30-8:00 PM at the Pfiffner Building, in Pfiffner Park!
There will be dinner catered by local businesses, a special presentation by NCCT staff, a silent auction and raffle, as well as live music.
