Although NCCT has made significant progress towards the Land Conservation Center, there are still a few major improvements needed. A professional energy audit was conducted in 2021 that determined the old windows on the building are about 60 years old, in poor condition, and are not able to effectively help regulate the temperature of the office. The audit also found that the ceiling is very permeable, thus contributing to energy loss, and the attic insulation is insufficient with some repair work needed. Several of us got together and submitted a grant application on NCCT’s behalf to help cover the significant costs of these much needed renovations. BIG NEWS! NCCT was awarded $26,136 from the Public Service Commission’s Energy Innovation Grants Program! The total cost of the energy efficiency renovation project is estimated to be around $34,848 meaning NCCT needed to raise at least $8,712 more dollars to meet the total anticipated project cost. We set a fundraising goal at $10,000 to ensure that the project costs would be covered in hopes of exceeding the goal in order to ensure our Ranger Fund can provide a source of funds for continued maintenance of this wonderful building.
NCCT members, supporters, and local energy efficiency enthusiasts met the fundraiser’s goal in several short weeks thanks to a leading donation of $4,500 made by an anonymous supporter to be used as a match challenge. Thank you to all who supported this effort!
