August 12, 2026: Volunteer Workday at Suszko Ridge

Join NCCT on the Green Circle Trail for our 2nd annual Bike Ride for Conservation! This is a fun bike ride to raise awareness and funds for conservation in Central Wisconsin! Various course lengths and open to all ages. Registration is required and will open soon.

Join NCCT for an invasive species workday at the Suszko Ridge Preserve in Waushara County! During this workday we will pull spotted knapweed and/or clip its flower heads, and bag it to be disposed of off-site. NCCT will provide tools and personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves as needed. No prior experience necessary, all are welcome!

MEET/PARK: Meet at the Suszko Ridge parking area on Blackhawk Road in Wautoma. Click here for Google Maps. Once the parking area is full, please park on the south side of the road as far off the pavement as (safely) possible.

DIRECTIONS: From Hwy 73, go west on Brown Deer Drive for 0.9 miles, then go north on Blackhawk Road for 0.25 miles. Look for the white NCCT EVENT signs.

PLEASE BRING: 

• Weather appropriate clothing, rain gear, and footwear for secure footing
• Wear long sleeves and pants as knapweed can cause skin irritation in some people
• Water and beverages
• Lunch and snacks (lunch will not be provided)
• Sunscreen and insect repellant
• PPE such as leather work gloves and safety glasses
• Anything else you need for a comfortable and safe volunteer experience.

Join NCCT to perform some routine maintenance at a new potential conservation project property in Lincoln County! During this workday, we will be mowing and cutting brush away from a structure and cleaning up downed trees. NCCT will provide tools and personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed, however if you have a brush cutter or saw, it could be helpful to bring along. All are welcome!

Join NCCT for a trail building workday at the Mumford Preserve in Marathon County! During this workday we will clear vegetation from the corridor of a new trail using hand tools, chainsaws, and brush cutters, and remove an old deer stand from a tree. NCCT will provide tools and personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves as needed. If you have a chainsaw and/or brushcutter that you’d like to bring and operate, please let us know in your RSVP. No prior experience necessary, all are welcome!

MEET/PARK: Meet at the Mumford Preserve parking area, located at the end of a gravel access drive at 180572 Hwy 52, Aniwa. Refer to directions below. Be aware that some GPS programs will direct you further north up County Hwy Y – this way is incorrect. Click here for Google Maps.

DIRECTIONS: From Hwy 52, turn north onto the gravel access road at 180572 Hwy 52, Aniwa, WI 54408. Look for the green “Mumford Preserve” sign. Follow the access drive north past the yellow signs for about 0.5 miles. You will pass an old equipment dump along the way. Proceed into the parking area. Click here for Google Maps.

Join NCCT as we celebrate another year of successful conservation in Central Wisconsin at our Annual Harvest Dinner, Fundraiser & Friend-raiser! Thursday, September 24th from 4:30-8:00 PM at the Pfiffner Building, in Pfiffner Park!

There will be dinner catered by local businesses, a special presentation by NCCT staff, a silent auction and raffle, as well as live music.
